Interested Parties in purchasing stake of Tottenham Hotspur
Amanda Staveley, who recently departed from the board of Newcastle United, is looking at new investment opportunities in football. She is particularly interested in purchasing a stake in Tottenham Hotspur.
Staveley’s investment firm, PCP Capital Partners, has raised around £500 million ($649 million) for potential investments in football clubs. Reports suggest that she has already initiated discussions regarding a minority stake in Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur finished fifth in the Premier League last season, and the club is valued at approximately €3.5 billion ($3.8 billion), which includes its debts. The majority ownership of Spurs lies with ENIC Sports Inc., with Joe Lewis’s family holding over 70% and chairman Daniel Levy owning the remainder.
Staveley’s interest in Tottenham is still in the early stages. Any potential deal might involve convertible preference shares, but there is no guarantee that these discussions will lead to a finalized agreement.
The club has attracted interest from various wealthy investors in the past. Its financial stability and modern facilities make it an attractive target. Other potential investors linked to Tottenham include Sheikh Jassim, Jay-Z, and Iranian-American billionaire Jahm Najafi.
Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham, has previously indicated that the club is open to selling a stake. He stated that while he has no desire to leave Tottenham, he has a responsibility to consider any proposals that come forward.
During her time at Newcastle, Staveley helped the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in two decades. Her experience in football investments could be beneficial for Tottenham if a deal were to occur.
Currently, Tottenham has not made any official comments regarding Staveley’s interest. The situation remains dynamic, and any investment would require further negotiations and agreements.
