In the run-up to a highly anticipated Premier League match against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has delivered a crucial injury update for Spurs fans. The team has grappled with several injuries that have affected their recent performances, but there is promising news on the horizon for the Tottenham faithful.
According to Postecoglou, key players Richarlison, Cristian Romero, Dominic Solanke, and Micky van de Ven are all making excellent progress in their recovery and are anticipated to return to action within the next seven to ten days. This development is a significant boost, as these players have been pivotal to Tottenham’s strategy.
“They are all tracking really well, all similar times, hopefully in the next seven to 10 days. A couple of them are already training but, over that period, we’ll start incorporating them back into matchday squads,” Postecoglou shared during a press conference on Tuesday morning.
Richarlison and Solanke have been sidelined since early February and mid-January, respectively, while Romero and van de Ven have only appeared in two of the last 26 matches across all competitions. Their return promises to add much-needed depth and versatility to the squad.
Postecoglou also looked ahead to Tottenham’s UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash against AZ Alkmaar on March 6, hinting at the potential availability of some returning players. “The idea is that at least a couple of them should be back in training and available for that game. Obviously, we have to back that up on the weekend (after) against Bournemouth (9 March), so, with two games, I’m hoping if we can get a couple more back, it means again we can tackle those two games with a strong squad.”
As the team gears up to face Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday evening, Postecoglou confirmed that the players who participated in the recent 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town emerged unscathed. A similar squad is expected to be available for the City matchup.
The anticipated return of these injured players could prove to be a turning point for Tottenham Hotspur, who have recently secured consecutive wins in the Premier League and are climbing the table. With a rejuvenated squad and renewed confidence, Spurs are poised to close the season on a high note.
